Entering a new case
|
|
|
| The
first time you start StatTracker, you are presented with a mostly
blank screen that will become the list view of your cases. This
is analogous to the built in address book application, which
has a name and one phone number on each line. When you tap on
a name, you are taken to another screen with the details of
that case. But first you need to enter a case to see a name
in the list view. To do so, tap the New button at the bottom
left. |
|
|
| You'll
then be presented with a blank "Enter Case" screen. |
|
|
| The
first field, the date, is filled in auotmatically with today's
date. To enter another date, simply tap on the date numbers
inside the dotted box to be taken to this date selection screen: |
|
|
| Next
fill in the MRN, patient name, and procedure. If the name or
procedure is longer than what will fit on the screen, everything
you enter will appear on the desktop later when your cases are
backed up. So even though you can't see the name of the whole
procedure, it is being saved. Next you will need to enter a
case type as classified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
The majority of what you do falls into the "Other surgical
case" category. If you perform an intubation on the floor
or do some other procedure anywhere outside of the operating
room, choose "Procedure only." |
|
|
| Now
select the age group that to which the patient belongs. PCA
stands for post-conceptual age. |
|
|
| If
you performed any procedures or used any special monitoring
techniques, tap on the "Procedures..." button to be
taken to the procedures and techniques screen. Check off any
boxes that apply. |
|
|
| If
you did a pain procedure or consult, tap on the "Pain..."
button and check off any boxes that apply. |
|
|
| Add
any notes that you would like to keep for the case by tapping
on the "Notes..." button. This field will scroll automatically
up to a maximum of 300 characters. Hit the "Done"
button when you are finished. |
|
|
| That's
it! Now simply tap on "Done" and you will be taken
back to the main screen with the list of cases. |
