WASHINGTON
-- November 26, 2001 -- Medical Toolbox Software, publisher
of health care applications for Palm OS (tm) powered handheld
organizers, announced today that it has acquired PregCalc,
the industry leading obstetrical calculator program, from
Thenar Software of Portland, Oregon. The sale to Medical Toolbox
includes transfer of all intellectual property and worldwide
marketing rights for the Professional Personal versions of
PregCalc.
Originally conceived and written by a physician, PregCalc
has become the standard handheld application used by all types
of health care providers who care for patients at all stages
of pregnancy. PregCalc provides several intuitive methods
for dating pregnancies, customizable clinical reminders, and
powerful collaborative tools to allow easy sharing of patient
lists between providers via the infrared beaming port found
on Palm OS (tm) powered handheld organizers. With version
4.0, PregCalc added a companion desktop application for the
Windows operating system.
"We are excited about this acquisition and the depth
it brings to our product line," says Peter Wu, M.D.,
Medical Toolbox president. "PregCalc is a mature, robust
application that is a proven leader in the health care segment
of the Palm OS (tm) software marketplace. The addition of
PregCalc to our code base will allow the introduction of exciting
new features to our StatTracker products."
Medical Toolbox Software is a privately held company based
in Washington, D.C. Previously known as Workingpalm.com, the
company published its first application for Palm OS (tm) powered
handheld organizers in 1999.
